Do You Use Our Sensors? Would You like to be Mentioned on our Blog and in the Press?

We’ve had some great responses to our story about our sensors being used on the London Eye. If you missed it, you can read it here.

We are always on the lookout for companies who are willing to talk to us about how they are using our load cells  for press releases and articles for the trade and technical press. It really is a simple process. I will ask our PR agents to contact you, either by phone or via email to talk to you about your particular project. They will then do all the writing and pass it through to you for your approval before any information is sent out. Most of the technical details LCM Systems would provide and we would like to include a quote from yourselves about the project.

Depending on the length of the article, we would either give it to one journal on an exclusive basis or send it to a range of specially chosen trade and technical journals. This would result in good publicity for your company in your target markets.

If you’d like to help, then please just give me a call or drop me an email.

We’ve Had Another Record Year!

Bucking the trend as recent figures announce a slowdown in output from the manufacturing sector, we are delighted to announce that 2011 saw an increase in our manufacturing output. We finished its 2011 financial year 15% up on 2010 figures. There is no doubt that the key to success is being able to convert orders that need a quick turnaround, while managing customer expectations.

With budgets tight, many companies are waiting until the last minute to order their load cells, so they can hold on to their cash for longer. This means we are often presented with very short deadlines. Handling the manufacturing here in the UK enables us to keep a close track on all throughput, at the same time being able to monitor and ensure the best possible quality of build and performance. Managing customer expectation is also important as although our load cells can be a small part of a larger system, they are often ‘mission critical’. This means that misleading customers on delivery dates can cause them serious problems.

Although enquiry levels have been even more unpredictable than in the past, there has been a general increase, especially for custom, specialist products.  We have also taken an aggressive marketing approach to ensure that the message gets out to anyone looking for load cells and complementary instrumentation.

A combination of PR and an internet strategy that makes it easy for all customers in the UK and overseas to get clear and precise information from the website, with a straightforward response mechanism, has seen the level of enquiries grow.

“We also have a dedicated and knowledgeable design team that can answer customers queries and help them chose the best load cell for their particular application. We are trying to make it as easy as possible for customers to deal with us.”

Following a factory extension in 2011, 2012 will see our most popular load cells will be offered from stock, so customers enjoy lower prices and faster delivery.

Honesty is the Best Policy – Especially When It Comes to Delivery

In my last post I spoke about the importance of managing customers’ expectations and I think that it was key to having such a successful year.

One of my philosophies is ‘always to be honest to customers’. There is no point promising a 3 week delivery, when we know that it is going to take 4 or even 5. All it does is cause problems for everyone. Although our load cells can be a small part of a larger system, they are often “mission critical”. This means that misleading our customers on delivery dates can cause the engineers serious problems. It also means we would spend more time answering calls from irate buyers and customers demanding to know when their load cells were going to be delivered, than we would manufacturing the products that have been ordered.

It is worth bearing in mind, if you go out and get 3 quotes, 2 manufacturers give you a 6 week manufacturing and delivery time and one gives you 4 weeks, the chances are you won’t get it in 4!

That said, of course we will bend over backwards to help accommodate all our customers’ needs and, in fact, that is one of the reasons that we have expanded our factory to enable us to stock our most popular products for same or next day dispatch.

So, don’t be left waiting for your products. When we give a delivery date, we’ll stick to it!
